As a result of the successful pilot held March-April 2018, the University of Michigan’s Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurs Project is thrilled to announce that free accounting Fridays will continue! Business owners in Detroit take note:
Does your business or startup need accounting help? Wondering how to make QuickBooks work, or how to calculate costs, or create financial projections?
The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, in collaboration the with the U-M Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurs Project, is extending its “free accounting Fridays” program into the summer. This program connects accounting students with local businesses in Detroit for accounting help. (For bigger needs, we highly encourage you to check out the BizGrid: http://www.detroitbizgrid.com/)
What kind of help can you ask for? We have worked with a retailer to figure out Cost of Goods Sold for each product; created financial projections for a small manufacturer to show in which month a bank loan could be paid back; and helped a distributor determine which product lines are more profitable than others. We have also helped with QuickBooks (online accounting software), as well as teaching high-level accounting ideas, like how to classify costs. If it’s not taxes, and it can be done in under an hour, this service is a good bet. (If you need tax help, you may want to contact Accounting Aid Society.)
