History
How it began: April 18, 2013
In the wake of the 2008-2009 financial crisis, former Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner visited Michigan Law School for a roundtable conversation about the importance of advancing academic research into the causes of financial crises, crisis prevention, and crisis response. This laid the foundation to create a new Center on Finance, Law & Policy.
The following month, Professors Michael Barr (Law), Dana Muir, and Gretchen Spreitzer (Business) convened more than 40 faculty members from across campus to discuss how a new interdisciplinary research center might provide support for University of Michigan faculty in undertaking this financial research.
